POSITION GUIDELINES

DEPARTMENT              : IN-PATIENT

POSITION                    : RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICER 

REPORTING TO           : BRANCH MANAGER / MEDICAL DIRECTOR / AMS

QUALIFICATION           : M.B.B.S.

EXPERIENCE               : 0-2 YEARS

DRESS CODE               : SPECIFIED DRESS CODE WITH I.D. CARD

DUTY HOURS               : AS PER SCHEDULED REQUIREMENTS

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key areas of responsibility:

  1. Morning Duty:
    1. Take over from night residents
      1. Conditions of the patients.
      2. Acute events in the night.
      3. New Admissions.
    2. Work up all new points
      1. Prepare files and patients for surgery.
      2. Take History, examine the patient, coordinate investigation as instructed by the consultant - Doctor, explain about informed consent to patient.
      3. Inform Consultants regarding any unusual test reports, patient is ready.
      4. Complete and send files to the Operation Theatre.
    3. Receive patients on the floor from the Operation Theatre Write a note regarding condition on shifting to the floor.
    4. Discharge Summary of patients to be filled up for discharge – at night.
    5. Round with the Consultant’s and the Nurses.
    6. Resident on Ground Floor to also look after emergencies, if EMO is not available or on leave.
    7. Handing over to the evening R.M.O.s.
  2. Evening Duty:
  1. Take over from morning R.M.O.s all admissions, all surgeries, all acute events
  2. Visit all new patients and all patients back from Operation Theatre.
  3. Evening round with the Consultants.
  4. Complete whatever is left over of paperwork.
  5. Residents to look after emergencies.
  6. Handing over to the Night R.M.O.’s.
  1. Night Duty:
  1. Details taken over from the evening duty R.M.O.’s.
  2. Visit all patients and record any fresh events.
  3. Manage emergencies.
  4. Discharges which have been pre-planned.
  5. Inform Consultants regarding the condition at 8:30pm – 9:00 p.m. and 8:30am – 9:00 a.m.
  6. Night report to be recorded in case files.
  7. Work up case files if any new admissions/ inform concerned consultant.
  8. Handing over to the morning R.M.O.’s.
  9. Revised details to be written on all files.
  1. To give priority to emergency cases and to co-ordinate with the consultants / respective department for the same.
  2. To treat all communication about patients, staff, and other organizational business confidentially.
  3. To be involved in quality Assurance / Quality control activities/ attend regularly NABH training schedule.
  4. To perform all the jobs as may be assigned due to exigencies of work/ shortage of RMO (in emergency if any RMO has to take leave
  5. Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement.
  6. To stictly follow duty roster, not to exchange duties frequently.
  7. To take prior permission for leave from HOD.
